Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy for AZK Player

Effective date: October 10, 2026 (applies to AZK Player version 2.1.0 and later)

AZK Studios ("we", "our", "us") makes the AZK Player app for Android ("the App"). This policy explains what the App stores on your phone, what it sends to others, and what choices you have. We wrote it to match what the App actually does. If you have a question, write to itsazkstudios@gmail.com.

1. The short version

  • Your videos, music, subtitles and converted files stay on your phone. We never upload them to a server of ours.
  • The App has no account and no sign-in. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or exact location.
  • The App is free and shows ads. Ads, analytics and crash reports are provided by Google (AdMob, Firebase) and, through ad mediation, Meta Audience Network. They collect the data described in section 4.
  • Where the law requires your consent (for example in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom), ads, analytics and crash reporting do not start until you have made your choice. You can change it at any time in Settings > Privacy choices. (The App's remote settings, section 4, are downloaded when it starts.)
  • Cloud backup of the App's data is switched off.

2. Information stored on your device only

To work, the App keeps the following on your phone. We do not receive it.

  • Your media library: the App reads the list of videos and music that Android's media library (MediaStore) shows, so it can display and play them. This needs the media permission you grant.
  • Playback history: the position where you stopped, so you can resume; the "Continue Watching" list; the title and location of videos you opened, including the address of an online link you played; the subtitle file name and delay you chose for a video.
  • Your choices: favorites, playlists, bookmarks, hidden folders, equalizer presets, theme, language and the other settings.
  • Recycle Bin: on Android 11 and newer, deleted files go to Android's own trash and are removed by Android after 30 days. On Android 10 and older the App keeps the deleted file in its own app folder (Android/data/com.azkstudios.mediaplayer) until you restore it or empty the bin; uninstalling the App deletes those files.
  • Recycle Bin PIN: if you set one, only a salted, slowed-down hash of it is stored, never the PIN itself. It cannot be recovered; if you forget it, clear the App's storage in Android settings (which also clears everything above). The PIN protects the screen inside the App; on Android 11 and newer the files themselves are in Android's system trash.
  • Converted files: "Convert to MP3" saves a new file in Music/AZK Player on your phone. Nothing is uploaded.

You can delete this data at any time: Settings > Clear watch history resets saved positions and empties Continue Watching; Android Settings > Apps > AZK Player > Storage > Clear data removes everything the App keeps (history entries, favorites, playlists, bookmarks, settings); uninstalling the App removes it too. The App's data is excluded from Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer.

3. Permissions

  • Photos and videos / Music and audio (READ_MEDIA_VIDEO, READ_MEDIA_AUDIO; on Android 14 also READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED; READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on Android 12 and older; WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on Android 10 and older): to find, play, rename, delete and convert your media. You can grant access to only some files on Android 14 and newer.
  • Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): for the playback controls in the notification shade and on the lock screen.
  • Foreground service for media playback and wake lock: so music keeps playing with the screen off.
  • Internet, network state and Wi-Fi state (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_WIFI_STATE): for online links you open, ads, analytics, crash reports, remote configuration, in-app update and review, and casting.
  • Advertising ID (AD_ID): used by the advertising SDKs described below. You can reset it or opt out of personalization in Android Settings > Privacy > Ads.
  • Ad-related permissions added by the advertising and analytics SDKs (for example ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_TOPICS and the Google Play install-referrer service): used only for advertising, measuring ads and analytics, as described in section 4. They appear in the App's permission list on Google Play.

4. Third-party services and the data they collect

These services run inside the App. They receive data directly from your device and handle it under their own privacy policies. We do not sell your personal information.

Google AdMob and Meta Audience Network (advertising)

AdMob shows the ads. Meta Audience Network may also provide ads through AdMob mediation. They may collect your advertising ID, IP address (from which an approximate location can be derived), device and operating-system information, and how you interact with ads, to serve and measure ads and prevent fraud. On newer versions of Android these services may use Android's privacy-preserving ad features (such as the Topics API) to choose ads. Ads may be personalized or non-personalized depending on your choice. Google: policies.google.com/privacy. Meta: facebook.com/privacy/policy.

Google User Messaging Platform (consent)

In the EEA, the United Kingdom and other regions where the law requires it, Google's User Messaging Platform asks for your consent. It stores your choice on your device. You can reopen it in Settings > Privacy choices.

Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics and Remote Config (Google)

Analytics collects an app-instance identifier, app and device information (model, OS version, language, country) and basic usage events such as app opens, to help us understand how the App is used. We do not send the names of your files or any media content.

Crashlytics collects crash reports: the stack trace, device state at the time of the crash, and an installation identifier, to help us fix crashes. A crash report can contain a file path or link if one appears in the error message.

Remote Config downloads settings from us (for example how often ads may appear, whether an update is required, and the addresses of this policy and our terms). It uses the Firebase installation identifier and basic app and device information. It runs when the App starts, because the App needs these settings to work, including in regions where consent is required.

Firebase: firebase.google.com/support/privacy. In regions where consent is required, Analytics and Crashlytics stay off until you consent. In other regions they start once the App has checked whether consent is needed, shortly after it opens; if that check cannot finish (for example you are offline on the first launch), they stay off until it can.

Google Play services (Cast, in-app update and review)

If you cast an online video, the address of that stream is sent to the Cast device you choose. Local files are never cast. The App can use Google Play to offer updates and to ask for a rating; Google receives the information it needs for those features.

5. Online links you open

When you play a link (http or https), your phone connects directly to the server that hosts it, which can see your IP address and what you request. We do not see, store or proxy those links. Plain http links are not encrypted. "Find subtitles online" opens a web search in your browser; the search is handled by that website under its own policy.

6. How we use information

To play your media and provide the App's features; to show ads that keep the App free; to measure and improve stability and performance; to fix crashes; and to comply with the law. We do not use your information for any other purpose and we do not build advertising profiles ourselves.

7. Retention and deletion

Data on your device stays until you delete it (see section 2). Analytics and crash data held by Firebase is kept for the period that Google applies to our project and is not linked by us to your name or contact details. Ad data is retained by the ad networks under their policies. To ask us to delete data connected to your device, write to itsazkstudios@gmail.com from the address you want us to act on and tell us the App version; because we do not hold your name or account, we may ask you for the App's installation identifier or other information to find it.

8. Your choices and rights

  • Change or withdraw ad consent: Settings > Privacy choices (shown where the law requires it).
  • Reset or limit the advertising ID: Android Settings > Privacy > Ads.
  • Revoke media or notification permission: Android Settings > Apps > AZK Player > Permissions.

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or California law) you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal data, to object to its processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your data-protection authority. Write to us to use these rights.

9. Security

We use reasonable measures: the data we keep on your phone is private to the App and excluded from backup; network traffic to our SDK providers uses HTTPS; the Recycle Bin PIN is stored only as a salted hash. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

10. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, contact us and we will act on it.

11. International transfers

AZK Studios is based in Pakistan. Google, Meta and other providers process data on servers in several countries. By using the App you understand that data may be processed outside your country, under the safeguards those providers describe.

12. Changes to this policy

If the App changes in a way that affects your privacy (for example a new SDK or feature), we will update this page and its effective date before the change reaches you. The address of this page is also stored in the App and can be updated by us.
